Wailing and gnashing of teeth: a massive winter storm (after WEEKS of summer weather) dumped a foot of snow in my satellite dish and knocked out the signal ONE MINUTE before the SERIES finale of Justified began, followed immediately by a complete loss of power to several thousand homes, complete with “ongoing pole fires.” And then our very expensive natural gas generator did not start. BUT then my husband did nineteen canonical male things, including going outside in the dark and diagnosing that the generator’s battery was dead and hooking it up to his car and revving the engine repeatedly, until now our is the only house with power as far as the eye can see, and I feel like the mall in Dawn of the Dead and am also soft on men for the next day or so.

EARLY MORNING UPDATE: no one else has power yet, so we are serving as a changing station for neighborhood devices and I saw the finale, let’s GIF it.

I am not yet watching Daredevil but I bet some of you are! This is what Jeet Heer has to say:

The visibility of Caro’s book is no accident. Wilson Fisk is Robert Moses re-imagined as a super-villain. Like Moses, a dominant figure in mid-twentieth century urban planning, Fisk is an overbearing visionary whose utopian dream displaced the working poor; both Moses and Fisk embody the hubris of high-modernist urban planning. Moses’s zeal to connect the city with parkways and overpasses led to the destruction of many working-class neighborhoods, with African American and Puerto Rican communities bearing the brunt. After running roughshod over New York for decades, Moses famously met his match in the populist activist Jane Jacobs, who fought for urban policies that respected the integrity of existing communities. In “Daredevil,” the Jane Jacobs-stand in wears a mask.

Yesterday was my off day, but you didn’t see last Thursday’s workout because I don’t do Friday link roundups! THE HORROR. The pull-ups were obviously the worst part, mountain climbers a close second:
