“Wild man Andrew Ucles catches wild animals barehanded to spread a message of wildlife conservation to show how to approach and capture wild, deadly, dangerous, poisonous, and even cute animals as well.”
Right, I — okay. I don’t see exactly how catching animals barehanded is part of conserving them, but I would definitely watch that, I can get behind this —
“Is Andrew Ucles fake? Watch and decide for yourself.”
Why would you ask yourself that question on your own About Me section?
Why is there a dead kangaroo lying in the middle of the road at the beginning of the “How to catch a Kangaroo disguised as an Emu” video? Why wouldn’t you disguise yourself as a kangaroo to catch a kangaroo? You had a perfectly good dead kangaroo.
WHAT NO YOU CAN’T
I HAVE WATCHED THIS VIDEO THREE TIMES AND I STILL CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHEN THE HAWK SHOWED UP
Here is a greatest hits compilation of Andrew catching animals, as advertised, with his bare hands:
Here is a four-minute video that is purportedly cobbled together from “sixty-seven days of survival in the Australian Outback.”
Here is a quarrel Andrew has with a wombat inside a tunnel (he claims pushing a wombat out of a tunnel is as difficult as “pushing a car with the handbrake on,” which I find difficult to believe).
I…think I believe him? Some of the time? Who is his cameraman? Most of his recent videos are set in “Africa” (nowhere more specific, just “Africa” — as in Andrew Vs. Africa, which I think is an inadvisable title) and they seem doubtful as hell. Right? That scene where he’s fleeing from the elephants? That’s not…that’s not something that’s real.
I don’t know.
David G put it pretty well in the comments:
“I’ve watched all your video your amazing, you should definitely get a tv show because I’ve never seen anyone catch dangerous animals with their bare hands”
I don’t know. Here’s Andrew (probably) catching a deer with his bare hands.
Everything is true, probably.

I would be way more into this if the kangaroos were the ones dressing themselves up as emus in order to evade capture. JUST IMAGINE.
Yeah, same here. My interest level went down quite a bit when I figured out that he’s not catching kangaroos which are disguised as emus.
That’s how I read it. Those sneaky kangaroos.
It probably showed up at HAWK O’CLAWK.
(high fives self in the face)
Oh my god, my husband and I debated this for like ten thousand years because WHO KNOWS IF HE IS FAKE. Like, if you already have a perfectly good road-killed kangaroo, why do you need a live one, too? Can he come over to my house and catch my bratty, entitled, speedy little tortie cat, because I think she could outrun a kangaroo AND is more wily. What would happen if this dude met Les Stroud? (I think Les Stroud would ignore him.) But I think this dude either thinks he is Bear Grylls, or wants to BE Bear Grylls, or is his spiritual successor or something. And the deer one? THE CATCH HAPPENS OFF-CAMERA, YOU FAKER. And you look like a loon staggering out of the pond like that.
Whatever, going to watch every episode of Survivorman again thanks.
Les Stroud doesn’t have time for posers like this one. Les Stroud has a fucking fire to make out of water.
Damn straight. Les Stroud or GTFO (except when he brought his son along in that one episode, hoo boy, just leave the teenage indifference at home where it belongs, Les).
Also, how and why are these “wild men” themes reaching peak pop-culture status? Seriously, lumbersexuals are a thing, y’all. Also also, where are all the wild forest women video stuff? Probably going “fuuuuuuu**” while skinning, canning, preparing, gathering and generally getting the REAL shit done, that’s what she’s doing.
I saw an online dating profile where a guy said he is good at getting things to work, so he should have his own survival show, and allhe really needs is electricity, food, and water. And I’m like
Um
That’s not how survivalism works
Bwahaha! “I figured out how to download the new iOS updatable! I could survive in the wild!”
“I’m just going to dress up like an emu and wrestle all the animals. Why? I have my reasons. Am I a pretty emu?”
“Ucles” is the internationally recognized safeword for Ancient Secret Furry BSDM Sex Club.
Okay, say what you will about Steve Irwin, but I’m pretty sure he never dressed himself up like an emu in order to antagonize kangaroos. He antagonized kangaroos the HONEST WAY.
re: Steve Irwin – When I was in Australia, I went to the Australia Zoo (STEVE IRWIN EVERYWHERE! I guess his family established it, and it’s turned into a makeshift shrine to Steve in parts which is a little weird but totally understandable because Australia) and they have a whole free-range kangaroo paradise and YOU CAN PET THEM.
So I did.
HOLY FUCK.
When I was a kid and my grandparents lived nearby, it was a dinky little reptile park started by his parents. I only went for the first time recently, and the shrine-like nature is pretty creepy. They do have great animal encounters, though (I held a possum! My mum took a wombat for a walk on a leash!)
Also, practically every zoo-like place in Australia will let you pat and feed kangaroos/wallabies, so don’t feel you’re missing out if you don’t visit Australia Zoo. Queensland is the only state that will let you hold a koala, though.
I’ve held a koala at Cleland wildlife park in the Adelaide Hills, so I’m sure you can hold them in most places. It was very heavy and very cute, and those claws are freaking sharp!
Oops. I guess the places I saw trying to convince tourists this was the only place to hold a koala were just fear-mongering. It looks like NSW is the only state where you can’t hold a koala, after all.
I did that too!!
Really, they could have gotten as much money out of me as they wanted, and next time I promise to leave QLD. 🙂
I feel the same way about him as I do about God. I mean, the answer is no but I still demand that it is yes. Also that they are both probably hot and half-naked most of the time but like a nice hat.
I don’t think that putting a deer in a chokehold is something a nice person would do.
At first I read this headline as being about a man who catches wild uncles with his bare hands, but that is what I get for page-skimming.
oh thank you I thought it was just me…
As silly as this man is, I believe him about the wombat. I’ve never tried to push a wombat somewhere it didn’t want to go so I can’t directly compare it to pushing a car, but I know it would be futile.
Apparently they have shovel-shaped butts so that if any unwanted visitors try to get into their burrows, the wombats can simply shove them out using their butts.
It’s even better than that! The shovel-shaped bony plates in their butt are strong enough that they can crush intruders skulls against the roof of their burrow with them!
Australian here, chiming in to add yet another vote to the “yes the wombats bit is true” pile.
Wombats are badass. They’re like nature’s very own little bulldozers.
That’s kind of a weak sauce emu costume to be honest.
I did that too!!

He SLAPPED a DEAD KANGAROO on its FLANK
After checking out Andrew Ucles videos on YouTube, I came to the conclusion the guy is a slightly flaky fake. You never see him actually catch an animal from start to finish. You never see him fully release them. It’s all staged, and the deer one is the fakest of all. Looks like it was filmed at a kids park. He’s taking the piss, but it would be mildly amusing if he did it in a humorous way, or owned up to it. Instead it’s internet timewasting. His schtick of being an environmentalist while harassing these animals is the weirdest part of all – it’s illogical and makes him look like he’s got some screws loose. By the way, his ‘100 days in the bush’ where he made a video saying he most definitely didn’t want to be helped or discovered ended up with him being escorted by cops to a hospital in a sorry state after day 66. Needless to say, he keeps that one fairly quiet. I think he’s angling for a TV career, but it’s all just too skewif for that to happen.
