Ha! I was coming down here to write this.
This is why I don’t iron anything.
Me either, and yet I’m now somewhat concerned I left the iron on.
Same here. Maybe I left it on when I ironed that blouse for law school back in 2003…
Painting #4 is clearly Chris Martin from Coldplay, and you can’t convince me otherwise.
I saw it too!
I KNEW he looked familiar!
I was thinking Tom Hiddleston…

I don’t know which one I want more: lady from painting #2’s gigantic sleeves or her amazing eyebrows.
No wonder she’s concerned about the iron. Her sleeves will scorch!
ooh I hope we get to see some of the deleted comments from Men eager to mansplain that some of these paintings predate the invention of the electric iron.
oh man I was just thinking this. And not just the paintings themselves, but they are set in times which predate electric irons so clearly that can’t be what these people are thinking about since it would be impossible for them to think that.
I am surprised that the caption under the painting of Christ does not say, “Oh, me, I’ve left the iron on.”
ditto
No, but it’s someone confessing to Christ that they’ve left the iron on.
But the Lord also rather looks like He may have left the Iron on.
He actually left the fish on “divide and multiply” at home, and he’s realized he’s going to come home to baskets and baskets of trout fragments. Like the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, but with fish.
Like that story where Hitler says “Heil me” and his buddy says “Heil you”?
I JUST LOVE THE WAY STEPHEN SAYS “OH CHRIST I’VE LEFT THE IRON ON”
They clearly did too, given how often they repeated that clip on the show.
Surely at least a few of these are more like, “Oh Christ, you’ve left the iron on.”, y/y?
I assumed it was more of an “Oh, Christ, I just realized I’ve left the iron on, I’m going to run and turn it off and I’ll be back in five minutes. Ten, tops. Sorry about this, Christ.”
That works, too! 🙂
The love for ABoFaL on the Toast makes me so very happy

My baby used to do this all the time in the first few months. She’s suddenly break off the breast with the most awesome, “oh Christ, have I left the iron on?” face.

So there’s gotta be one of Christ thinking “Oh, Christ…”

Okay, good. Everything is perfect.
Okay, but, I’m redecorating my apartment, and painting #7, the red-headed girl combing her hair by artist W. M. Paxton, would fit perfectly in my bedroom; and every time I’d look at it, I’d say, “What a beautiful picture. And wait, I think I left the curling iron on” and I’d laugh because isn’t it true? Don’t I always leave something on?
I think my favourites are the ones where they realise they’ve left the iron on, but look very self-satisfied that they’re not going to do anything about it.
A little disappointed that, to date, no one has painted that opening sequence in Frasier where Niles, among other things, leaves the iron on.
That is an AMAZING opening sequence.
The woman on the park bench is thinking, “Oh Christ, did I leave the iron on? Well, I hope it burns his f*cking house down.”
I love how unmotivated these people are to do anything about it. “Oh Christ, I’ve left the iron on. Oh, well. I’ll collect the insurance money tomorrow.”
Toastie CaptainNancy sent me a postcard with that painting of the lady in green on the park bench, back when we did Toast Post! I have it on my fridge as we speak.
It didn't start out that way; it just sort of happened, like a cassette tape left in a car for too long.
I do hope Stephen see this.
I do hope Stephen see this.
I as hoping for a Christ by El Greco captioned, “Oh, me, I’ve left the iron on.”
If this was set in Ireland it would be "oh jesus, i left the immersion on." We don't say "christ" so much but "jesus" is very common!
That last guy looks so much like Jonathan Pryce. This needs to be a news headline.
