I saw The Cheap Detective in the theater when it came out (in an appropriately-looking cheap and shabby third-run movie theater) and missed the entire point as I knew nothing about film noir.

Oh thank fancy Jesus and all the other space people. I’ve been half convinced I fever dreamed Murder by Death and the Cheap Detective despite owning both on DVD. I’ve never met anyone, anywhere, who has ever seen these movies. I will live in this post and comment thread with my people now forevermore.
I love this feeling! It’s the best. I have been waiting my whole life for people who have seen and loved the 1967 version of Bedazzled. It just doesn’t count if you *make* the other person watch it, ya know?

I’ll do my best on most of those (no promises… Toddler plus infant means time is…difficult) BUT I love love LOVE the Thin Man movies! That banter there’s just something refreshing about a couple so happy and comfortable and witty.
As a Toastie (Toaster? Toastician?) I assume you run in circles that have made you aware of the Thrilling Adventure Hour but JUST IN CASE : their show Beyond Belief has more than a little Thin Man in it, except they’re slightly more drunk and also deal with the supernatural rather than murderers. Give it a listen wherever you enjoy podcasts.
