Murphyyyyy. And the philosophical cat at the door. “Should I go out? If I go out, am I not simply moving from one enclosure to another?”

Ok, I have definitely been reading too much Japanese literature. It took me two full hours to realize this was a reference to sailing, not suicide. Or to put it in haiku terms:
Reading a comment I suddenly remember: Some lit’s not death-y!
irishbreakfasttime+52
that is a cat who knows its place in the world. Specifically, at the top.
SarahDances+67
I… clearly need to step up my dogsitting game. I usually just send my friends a photo of their dog every day (I call it the Daily Dingo, because that is what he looks like), but I see now that he has been woefully under-accessorized.
champagneghost+36
we have not been doing a good job training our friends to be good catsitters because not only do they not accessorise our cat, they don’t even remember to send us pictures unless we send them slightly passive aggressive texts!?
my housemates watch the cat when I’m gone and I try really hard to not bug them for pictures or updates or anything, because I think it makes me seem too weird about the cat? Although I suppose they already know that.
SarcasticFringehead+26
My roommate and I work opposite schedules, so I’m often home alone with her cat, and it’s a constant struggle not to send her photos. Just in case she forgot what he looks like in the two hours since she left.
tragicallyludicrous+9
I will get pictures if he does anything exceptionally cute. But I try not to worry about him, sometimes I do have to travel and I can’t be feeling guilty about it, he’s a cat damn it.
PotterPotterson+6
Man, if only I could train my roommate to send me pictures of the kittens when I’m gone. But I already have to remind him, in writing, that he actually needs to hang around with the cats when I’m gone. You know, interact with with them.
…This is why I’m wary of leaving them for a week at the end of the month. In addition to the general sadness at leaving my kittens. 🙁
champagneghost+11
you should DEFINITELY send her all of the pictures!!! if my boyfriend or i work from home, the other person will get at least 5 minutes worth of snapcats and we have both agreed it is The Best
Bill+1
I don’t even get daily pictures of my kid from the sitter, I think you’re doing pretty good to snap a shot of the dingo at least once a day. 🙂
champagneghost+23
just this morning i was telling everyone how great our catsitter is but clearly i spoke too soon.
sparkwoodand21+85
I accidentally locked my cat in a room upon leaving for vacation last week and my petsitter immediately checked to see if she was behind that closed door. Clearly it is not her first rodeo. Petsitters for president.

These are great. But Sarah’s rage tweets about Murphy the Trash Dog are stilllll my favorite thing ever.
urspostrophe+14
I was crying laughing when I read those.
BobOfSeals+16
I was literally reading them aloud at a bar to a friend of mine for many minutes.
kilks401+19
my gf and I were marveling at these. She asked me like three days later if the dog was ok and back with Mallory.
MunchletteBelle+32
Oh my god. I was fine until Murphy pooped his diaper. Then I was literally weeping with laughter at my desk. Cannot recommend reading these at work, y’all. So amazing, though.

mallory where do I get me a fur husband, because I /clearly/ need one

This is it; I’m kidnapping him, taking him back to LA with me, and merging his flesh with my flesh. No more options.
(Sorry, was this weird? I just really love dogs.)

:whistles:
I love my kitties, but I wish they weren’t quite such scaredy-cats. Most of the time the sitter doesn’t even catch a glimpse of them, let alone capture them in adorable photographs.

I do love that cat photo.

No, my porch is just super-high and I’m on a hill higher than my back-fence neighbor.

So much for my dreams of your house having a truly extraordinary and whimsical layout, which wouldn’t have surprised me in the least.

OMG.
Our catsitter is an older Easter European woman with a thick accent who calls herself the cat nanny and send us basically the identical picture of one of our cats looking cat-like on the stairs every day, and no pictures of the other one because she won’t speak to strangers. And we will be on vacation drinking a cocktail in the afternoon and be like… yep, there’s our cat…. and back to vacationing we go.
Bad cat parents.

Hi has anyone made a storify yet of Sarah Jeong dogsitting for Mallory? Because that would be some quality content.
hippopotropolis+6
THANK YOU.
If anyone needs more dogtime, my husband made this while we were dogsitting our friends’ Australian shepherd puppy (who they frequently refer to as a demon because of his crazy energy level). It is, in my (perhaps not-entirely-unbiased) opinion, absolutely perfect. Sound is important. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4H4pBR96Jo
