Hugh Laurie is such a treasure. I rewatch “40-something” at least once a year to watch him bumble around. Also: baby Cumberbatch.
Is 40-something a movie, a sketch? Would love to know.
Show, but a very short one. It only ran for two series and I think it had like, 12 episodes. Worth a watch!
I’m convinced that Hugh Laurie is multiple identical looking people. No one man could be all the Hugh Lauries.
I once showed this sketch to a group of 8-9 year olds as part of a “british comedy and crumpets” thing I did as a camp counselor. I was expecting the older kids (12-15) to show and did not expect the little ones to get the jokes here. However apparently children are very cued into what pretentious twerps sound like even if they don’t understand all the references because they howled with laughter at every line.
I just watched The Night Manager, with Hugh Laurie as the world’s most evil, but well-heeled, arms dealer.
So watching this, I continue to be amazed at his talent.
