This shipwreck in the Mediterranean is absolutely horrible:
The UN’s refugee agency, UNHCR, told the Guardian that up to 700 may remain in the water, according to numbers supplied by a survivor. The accident happened after the migrants saw a merchant ship in the distance and scrambled to attract its attention, over-balancing the fishing boat in which they were travelling.
Barbara Molinario, a spokeswoman for UNHCR in Rome, said: “They wanted to be rescued. They saw another ship. They were trying to make themselves known to it.”
Nikki and I are absolutely obsessed with this article, and we can’t QUITE tell if it’s meant to make you feel bad for this dude who does. not. get it. or if it’s meant to say “oh, man, this guy lacks a basic understanding of what is required of humans,” but either way, WHY would you think this was an appropriate thing to do with other people’s photographs and personal effects? (Note that he turned down a $50K offer from a foundation that runs a center about the history of the internment camps just prior to the auction.)
When they decided a few months ago to put the items up for auction — some 450 photographs and handmade artifacts collected in the 1940s from Japanese-American internment camps, representing the resolve and spirit of many forcibly dislocated people — they also had no idea what kind of outrage lay in store. On Wednesday, the auction house that planned the sale, Rago of Lambertville, N.J., canceled it after a widespread outcry from the families of those held in the camps and other Japanese-Americans. They described the auction — at which the deeply personal items including handmade jewelry and carved family nameplates would have been sold among conventional estate items like snuff bottles, Oriental rugs and mantel clocks — as a moral affront.
ALSO, right, he INHERITED the collection from his dad, it’s not like he laid out a bunch of money for it! I was saying to Nikki, I am not a super-good person, but I would feel horrible taking $50K for a bunch of displaced persons’ personal property from a foundation dedicated to their memory, let alone saying “naw, let’s see how this goes on the ol’ open market.” I also think the auction house probably did nudge him into selling by making it seem like a good thing to do, I don’t think he’s a monster, or anything, but it definitely would have made sense for him to talk to literally anyone who knew anything about the camps before proceeding.
Gilbert Blythe, in the human form of Beloved Canadian Jonathan Crombie, has passed away, and all is ashes in our mouths.
oh my god did you read the Dyson / Cornel West piece it is WILD it is INTENSE it is PERSONAL it is ENGROSSSSING
Loathsome Canadian Jian Ghomeshi and the people who catered to his awfulness come off poorly in Janice Rubin’s report.
Ben Affleck made a really stupid decision.
Our own Sulagna Misra is writing a new column, MY FANDOM LIFE, over at HelloGiggles, and you can pitch her! You definitely should, too, deets in the post.
Laura Ortberg Turner of Ortberg Family Singers fame wrote SUCH a lovely short thing about her anxiety, I strongly recommend it:
The one thing I get right every morning is peanut butter toast and coffee. I’m optimistic while I eat the toast and drink the coffee, because the morning is the time of hope and I haven’t failed at anything yet in the day. Something has gone right, so maybe the next thing will go right, and the thing after that.
While deciding which Property Brother they would rather do, Decider observed correctly that Canadians LOVE backsplashes, which I had never thought about before, but…we kind of do! Anyway, back to the good stuff:
Tyler: Joel, let’s be real: you and I are both broke. Drew is a $600,000-priced model home complete with an open-concept kitchen / dining area and a sunken living room. Plus, he’s furnished with Crate and Barrel furniture that makes the whole thing really come together. But we’re on a $400,000-budget, and Jonathan is just a slightly lived-in single-family home that’s completely empty save for a smelly carpet and, inexplicably, an unmade bed. But he’s only $457,000. Can’t you see the POTENTIAL?
Not the best idea. It’s “festival-inspired,” which I think means going for the “headdresses at Coachella” look.
Tabatas are actually my favourite workout because I find they go by VERY quickly, and at the end of the session I am completely dripping sweat into my eyeballs. There are various apps you can download to track and chime the intervals for you, bc with a ten second rest, if you literally pause to look at your wrist, your rest is over! The first minute or two of plank intervals seem easy, but by the end of four minutes, the twenty seconds on will be the worst thing imaginable.

I am so sad about Jonathan Crombie. Plum puffs cannot minister to me.
I liked the New Yorker’s piece on “Why We Loved Gilbert Blythe”: http://www.newyorker.com/culture/sarah-larson/jon…
Lovely read, thankyou.
Oh man, me too. I think he is the first non-family member or friend whose passing I have cried about because it feels like a personal loss. He seemed like such a lovely person.
Jonathan Crombie was the only actor I’ve ever made the effort to meet not only once, but many times. And he was so kind to me as a giddy 16-year-old whose dream of meeting “Gilbert” was finally coming true. His loss truly felt personal.
oof, laura ortberg turners anxiety essay tho…. it’s always a bit heartening to know i’m not alone, but what a shit system that people have to deal with this at all.
Oof, indeed — helpful Monday morning reading for me, trying not to freak out about the day
I’m going to reread it this morning until I feel better.
Why have I never watched Property Brothers? They are the Kratts, except educating adults about houses – all they need is an animated crocodile to comment on backsplashes and wallpaper.
New fave HGTV.
I LOVE THE PROPERTY BROTHERS.
I have such a weakness for plaid shirts and floppy hair, thanks to my ’90s teenagerhood, and so I am firmly ensconced in Team Jonathan.
Reporting for Team Jonathan duty! I was not a teenager in the ’90s, but I guess I was old enough that it has endeared a love of floppy hair and plaid in me. I don’t even mind the highlights!
On another note, it sort of puzzles me that they seemed disappointed with how boring the guests are. The point of the show is to see a beautiful transformation and watch the brothers. No need for manufactured drama with the homeowners, that would be distracting. It could also be that I am just used to HGTV reality shows since the guests on most of their shows are like this.
A common misconception about Jonathan is that he is ALSO A LICENSED REALTOR and just plays the contractor for the show’s sake, and therefore I think Jonathan is the better catch, because he also dyes his hair to distinguish him from Drew and is not that weird blonde colour. Jonathan is not afraid of germs or animals like Drew is, and also he is good with his hands and has more skills, and so I am also Team Jonathan, even though Drew is lithe like a lean, muscular otter.
Manufactured drama with the homeowners is just not fun to watch — you want to see the reno’d bathroom, or income suite, or shiny new deck come into being, not watching people bicker
…. I might watch a lot of HGTV
I do like it when Jonathan has to manipulate a couple who is being annoying and like showing up with $20K last minute demands and complaining about finishes.
Seriously, the homeowners just exist to say the words “open concept” and “chef’s kitchen” and “wow factor,” and look entertaining smashing down walls with sledgehammers and being Very Disappointed when Jonathan gently informs them that because the budget took a hit when they found asbestos, they’re going to have to make the best of the 1997 brick fireplace. “We are So Disappointed,” they say to the Confession Cam. “He told us he was going to be able to reface that totally with something that is in fashion for the next ten minutes, and now he can’t?” YES, FOOLS, BECAUSE ASBESTOS
There was one episode where one of the homeowners had really offbeat, unpredictable taste, and that was fun. They chose the house they bought partially because she liked a banged-up screen door that had come off its hinges and was just sitting in one of the rooms. It had a little metal bird on it? She got a tattoo of the bird, she liked it so much. Everything she liked was something the other guests on the show would call tacky, and I don’t remember whether she even cared about an open concept. It was great.
I remember that one! They were in Austin, which probably explains it.
I remember that episode too! One of my favorites, and yes clearly Austin had a lot to do with it. #keepitweird
and as a surprise, they had the screen door clean upped and rehung. she LOVED it <3
so refreshing after hours and hours of people crying about the wrong shade of white being used in the powder room or whatever.
also: the Property Brothers are going to be here next weekend for the Home & Garden show and i REALLY WANT TO GO but my partner thinks i’m being a nutso fangirl. which, i totally am. but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I like to imagine that they are actually the same person, but from two different time periods. I call them “90’s Home Repair Ken” and “Swanky Shirt and Tie Combo Realtor Ken”
What a fantastic comment.
My Prop Bros-watching friend and I refer to them as Jonathan 1 and Jonathan 2.
at the risk of turning my entries to the “link roundup” comments to a live-blog for Noodge, updates…
I WON THE GOLD IN MY DIVISION AT THE POLE DANCE COMPETITION THIS WEEKEND AND I STILL ALMOST CAN’T BELIEVE IT. Mild imposter syndrome, but trying to overcome that and actually enjoy the win.
And I have to make a decision about my job offer in Oregon today. It feels so huge, and I feel a bit like a deer in headlights. I’m about 60/40 for the move? But still have fears about living in a small town (Medford, OR area, so probably will live in Grants Pass or Ashland) vs a large city, and leaving my comfort zone. Why do I feel like I consistently live life on “difficult mode”?
Congratulations! I feel your impostor syndrome pain – I have that all lthe time too. But you went and competed and beat everyone there, and also you beat everyone who didn’t show up to compete, so a winner is you! Good job!!
That is right near where I grew up! Ashland has one of the world’s best Shakespeare festivals, so there’s that. I actually really like Ashland, though I didn’t live there. Lmk if you have questions about the area. 🙂
Thanks! do you happen to have an email I can contact you at? It would be really really great to pick your brain 🙂 (or you can message me at ms dot cvmcgraw at gmail dot com)
[email protected] !
Ashland is lovely and a wonderful place to live. Grants Pass is much, much less so. The area is gorgeous but very insular, as San Francisco and Portland are hours away and sometimes it feels like you are living in a different world entirely. I lived in Ashland for five years and I loved it while I was there, but I have not been back since I left three years ago.
Depending on where you are in life, Ashland is a really great place! Good schools, amazing arts scene (obviously), beautiful nature everywhere. The surrounding towns, Medford included, are kind of backwards and charmless. It could be a good move if you love your job (getting a job in that area is nearly impossible, so kudos!) and don’t mind being far away from any larger cities.
FANDOM LIFE. OH MAN, DO I HAVE STORIES OF FANDOM LIFE.
I also just re-watched the Anne movies (not the third one, I pretend the third one doesn’t exist) and the Jonathan Crombie news hit me hard 🙁 He was just such a lovely man, in all ways.
We all pretend the third one doesn’t exist, right? I have never seen it and don’t plan to, not even in memoriam.
The final sentence, apart from the “in memoriam” bit, encapsulates my sentiments about the fourth one (the prequel).
I say the third one exists, but it’s not canon. 😉 (Don’t get me started on the serious lack of continuity.) The first two are the only ones that matter.
The worst Tabata interval session I’ve ever done was one suggested by Dan John: Tabata intervals w/ front squats. I picked a light (for me) weight – like 95 lbs or something – and went to town. I recall getting about 14 to 16 reps on the first 20 sec interval, and on the last one I think I did… 3. And then I felt like I would die. Maybe I did die. I can’t remember. It was horrid. It was awesome.
That Dyson/West piece… wow. Such a detailed, thorough, intimate and yet… balanced story. Fascinating.
…are backsplashes not a thing in the States? They define the kitchen!
My husband and I installed one this summer in our old American farmhouse. They make it easier to keep cooking grease off the walls. And it works so well with our color scheme.
We have a boring ikea kitchen, and the tiled backsplash makes it interesting! Plus, easy grease cleaning
I’m confused too! I swear they are a thing? I have seen many! I love them because honestly the wall behind my sink gets so gross and it’s painted and like, how long is that really gonna hold up?
I do think everyone loves a backsplash. At least everyone North American?
Our stove is on an island and the only place where we could theoretically put a backsplash has a giant window, so we’re backsplash-less.
SAME ANNE.
*agressively hopes Megan Follows doesn’t leave us for a million years*
This article about James Fox, the archivist, is infuriating. Maybe fire some of those Administrators of Making Rich Alumni feel more Important and hiring the resources the library needs.
Also, Game of Thrones is killing me! For the first time since the series started, I really have no idea what might happen in any given episode!!!
I feel so adrift watching GoT this season! Also, I had a major sad face when Drogon flew away before Dany could pet his nose. 🙁 🙁 🙁
I really love most of the changes, though. I can’t wait to see what Sansa does next (she’s really a player now, and could become one of the best), I’m looking forward to Jaime & Bronn travel to Dorne, Varys and Tyrion together are amazing, Lollys is sweet and naive and, y’know, not a traumatized mute…
Honestly, right now I can’t think of a single change I mind. Arianne has apparently been excized to make way for her brother, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt until I see what they have planned for the Dornish storyline.
My friend and I just gave each other a grinning double-thumbs-up after the “Jamie and Bronn, Buddy Adventure” scene. That is going to be fun! I am excited to see it!
the only change so far I am not on board with is no Lady Stoneheart. Her appearance is one of my favorite moments from the books and I would love to see her on the show.
Otherwise, I agree totally with you.
I just think they NEED to bring her in at some point. Even with Brienne sort of taking charge of her own destiny a little bit in the show now, eventually their paths sorta need to cross. She really is an essential plotline (at least to me) and I’m really concerned that she’s going to be a big part of the last two books and Benioff/Weiss will have to scramble to explain her after leaving her out for too long.
I miss Arianne so much. Also hearing from folks who watched the leaked episodes is ruining the usual early-in-the-season sense of anticipation for me as well (but that’s my own fault for not avoiding spoilers!)
It’s a lot of fun as a book reader, I think! I’m finding the changes more understandable and entertaining the further they stray from the books. I also loved Sansa snarking Brienne because it shows how alike she and Arya still are. Also, I love how LF stresses how insane the shadow-killed-Renly story is, even though we know it’s true.
Also I LOVED that they included the note from 10-year-old Lyanna Mormont: “Bear Island knows no king but the King in the North, whose name is STARK.”
Mormont ladies, I’ve missed you!
I was not prepared for how ugly that Coach stuff was going to be.
I clicked on the link thinking, “how bad can it be?” … um…
I am sad to say that the bar is so low I was actually relieved to see that they at least used an original design and didn’t take a traditional one.
Wow, great link roundup!
The internment camp auction article is certainly a doozy. I don’t think it’s trying to garner sympathy for the guy, but it does sort of present facts devoid of any evaluation, which could lead to that interpretation. I think the thing that confused me most was that the artifacts were given, presumably in good faith and for what seems like a good purpose, to Allen Eaton, and then Eaton just kept them?? Not to absolve Ryan of anything, but it seems like this whole mess could have been avoided if Eaton had set up some provisions for the return or donation of the items once his “exhibition” finished. I’m sure I’m missing part of the story.
In other “co-opting other cultures for money” news, that Coach stuff is… pretty blatantly horrible. I was briefly rooting for Coach because the Coach x Baseman collaboration is great, but now I’m back on the nope train. Can we stop being “inspired” by “festivals” as a rule?
And finally– not sure this counts as tabatas, but I did a high-intensity stair workout this weekend. It was outside, and the weather was perfect, and I planned it so that both my boyfriend and I were wrecked in about 20 minutes. I’m super proud of that. My thighs feel like pulled pork today.
The Macondo disaster was 5 years ago today. Never forget. http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/GPO-OILCOMMISSION/pd…
PS: That’s the BP oil spill, for those who don’t live down here on the Gulf.
SPEAKING OF CANADIANS (so as to tangentially relate this) I JUST found out that some people who are racist who want to use code words for said racism use Canadians instead of “insert racial slur” . So like, let’s say I am a racist talking to perhaps another racist at Starbucks and I don’t want people to know I’m the worst so I say “Well my neighborhood has gone down hill – it’s full of CANADIANS” *weighted look* and the other person would nod knowingly.
I HAD NO IDEA. I am second guessing every conversation I have ever had where someone said the word Canadian!! I have lived in the south nearly all my life and god knows I hear actual racial slurs and well known dog whistle words occasionally, but this is some next level shit!
I’ve heard people in the Northeast say “Canadians” to mean “Jews,” not as a slur but still in a hush-hush sort of way, like “don’t let people know I am using this euphemism.” Idk it’s weird.
I grew up in Massachusetts and I have never once heard someone use “Canadians” in this way/I have been completely oblivious to such codes and oh god I hope I wasn’t inadvertently polite/unoutraged at someone’s racist sentiments.
I spent all my childhood summers in a Maine beach town, and lived there year-round from my teens, and I promise you that when locals (or even many people from as far away as Mass) talked nastily about Canadians, they meant Canadians — specifically, the large numbers of visiting Québécois who helped keep the local economy afloat, and they [edited to add: we, let’s not pretend; I said it, too, I was a jackass] said it with all the xenophobia you might imagine.
Yeah I have family in the Northeast and they are definitely being rude about actual Canadians, who apparently drive badly and are slightly louder drunks than the local drunks (ie are on vacation).
I grew up in a town that a lot of Americans go to for fishing/hunting etc. during summer and spring holidays. LOTS of complaining about Americans goes on whenever they are around. I know the Conservation Officers reeeaaaalllly don’t like them because some will try to get away with breaking fishing and hunting regulations and just generally make their job harder.
I’ve definitely heard people complaining about Canadians (usually Quebecois, to be honest), but it’s always about actual Canadians? And sometimes from Canadians, too. Man, this is weird.
Just to be clear: I didn’t mean to imply that because the people I knew were complaining about actual Canadians means that no one did it; on the contrary, the xenophobia of the way it was used in my circle suggests to me an easy associative path by which some people might use “Canadian” as a code word for other groups they’re invested in othering.
Yeah, I totally get that. I’m just agreeing with you that I’ve only heard it in the context of actual Canadians, but I can 100% believe people would be using it in another way.
LIKE HOW DO YOU EVEN KNOW? What if I incorrectly parse a knowing look and am like, OK RACIST. Not that you should blanket hate Canadians either.
whaaaaaaaaaat
This is terrible, but thank you for sharing this. I share a duplex with some extremely flaky people from Quebec, and now I understand the cagey looks I get when I refer to them as “the Canadians” in a frustrated voice.
I too have jokingly complained about Canadians, and now I am wondering if the people I’m talking to think I was being code racist. Also what the fuck, racists?? This and your supar sekrit Aryan Nation numerical tattoos! Just be out with it, so we can shun you into the volcanos where you belong.
Exactly: I grew up in a place where locals routinely complained (unfairly, and with a nasty dose of xenophobia) about actual French Canadians, and it would never have occurred to me that anyone would have been using it as a code word, but now I wonder if my own (equally unfair, equally ugly) youthful complaints were taken by some listeners as racism.
I had NO IDEA this was a thing. Most of the things I say about Canadians are jokes about how incredibly nice they are, and how they are constantly apologizing, and their ability to tolerate cold. It’s not likely someone would mistake that for Secret Handshake Racism, but I will be sure to be more careful in the future!
WHOA. I am positively scandalized.
Sadly, I’ve heard of this before – my husband worked as a waiter in college, and he told me the kitchen slang was to refer to tables of black families as “Canadians” which also somehow connoted that they were poor tippers. Pretty gross.
Yeah, I’ve only heard of this in food service.
I kind of hope someone pulls this on me, because I would definitely reply something like ‘OOH OOH I know a lot of Canadians and *to a person* <flap of my hands> they are terribly kind and polite and thoughtful! I’m sure one or two suck but I DON’T KNOW THOSE CANADIANS! <additional excited flapping of hands>”
I AM OFFENDED ON BEHALF OF ALL CANADA
Let us gawk at Coach’s skeezy faux-American Indian look, then let us click over to Beyond Buckskin ( http://shop.beyondbuckskin.com/ ) for cool stuff by excellent Native designers. LOOK AT THOSE BEADED BRACELETS. LOOK. And the white turquoise earrings!!! Do want.
Edited to fix screwed-up link, sorry!
A friend of mine has the beaded Wayfarers and I covet them so, so much.
Ooooh thank you for the link I would like one of each jewelry please.
I’m actually glad those porcupine quill earrings are sold out because I just dropped $500 to go to a wedding I don’t want to go to (in Grand Rapids, with my most boring family members) and I would not have been able to stop myself from buying them.
Aw but Grand Rapids is nice! Grand Haven is MORE nice, but hey. At least Michigan summers are beautiful.
True, it’s not Grand Rapids’ fault that I’ll be staying on the Calvin College campus with no car. At least there’s nature-y stuff nearby.
Oh man. Calvin dorms are terrible… I have fond memories of the campus (I was the first black sheep of the family to not attend Calvin in … 3 generations? but I went for the family summer camp sessions a couple times) and my favorite cousin lives literally across the street from one of the side entrances, but oof.
Let me know if you need recommendations for nightlife/other fun things!
I do indeed need recommendations! (So many people in my family went to Calvin. I’m going up there for my cousin’s wedding; he and his fiancee met because they were bible study leaders for their respective dorm floors).
Oooh the Seahawks t-shirt!
Ah, and they carry sizes up to 4XL!
Ugh that Coach stuff is heinously ugly, and a huge missed opportunity. Imagine what they could have achieved if they had worked with some actual Native American artists! There are so many traditional Native designs that would (and do!) look great on handbags, and lots of amazing Native artists who could use some exposure. Instead they used in-house designers who don’t understand what they’re working with, and it’s not only ugly and overpriced, but insulting.
I’m optimistic while I eat the toast and drink the coffee, because the morning is the time of hope and I haven’t failed at anything yet in the day.
This morning, I got up, toddled out to the kitchen, heated water for tea, put my hand into the tea bin, and cursed, because GODDAMN IT I forgot to buy tea yesterday even though buying tea is one of the main reasons I went to the goddamned store GODDAMNIT, I MIGHT BE STUPID.
So today, even before I had my tea (from my dwindling supply), I had already failed at something. It was pretty disheartening, I tell ya.
Also I am not sure I was prepared to read this article on Cornel West http://www.newrepublic.com/article/121550/cornel-…
ETA: I somehow missed that Nicole included this link in the roundup???? Clearly I need more coffee.
i’m like..aghast? i can’t even process that.
I failed this morning.
I couldn’t even muster peanut butter toast. Or coffee.
I made instant coffee. But at least it’s coffee. (?)
I ended up buying coffee. Because I can spend money like a champ.
You achieved coffee. You win!
I hope this isn’t a derail, but I don’t know how to deal. I was reading about cryogenically freezing this toddler with brain cancer which is SO SAD <a href=”http://(http://motherboard.vice.com/read/the-girl-who-would-live-forever)” target=”_blank”>(http://motherboard.vice.com/read/the-girl-who-would-live-forever) and of course I clicked through to the Alcor website to read about their procedures and, lo, the most terrifyingly euphemistic sentences I have ever read:
“The purpose of cryonics is to preserve life. Alcor therefore intervenes in the dying process at the earliest moment that is legally possible.”
…then a customer service text message popped up asking me if I had any questions. And guys, I have so many questions, but do I want the answers? Can I handle the answers? Guyyyyyssss.
Yep, it’s time for coffee.
This response to a literal wingnut is making me lol this morning: http://www.slate.com/blogs/outward/2015/04/17/mic…
ohhh my god that is BRILLIANT.
I got my BA at the University of Oregon, and meeting James Fox — and subsequently realizing that actual humans have this super cool librarian job, and possibly I could too — is directly responsible for me going to library school. I am really disappointed with how the administration is handling this.
Have you told him this? I bet right about now this would be a great thing to hear. He sounded pretty sad and frustrated.
No, you’re right, I should.
(Edited to add: Look! There one is! It’s a “no, you’re right”!)
This is apropos of nothing, but humor me for a second because I don’t have TV and so when I watch a show, it’s kindof a big deal. I’m catching up on Doctor Who, and while I really like this new Doctor, this is turning into the worst TV show. Like I think I could have written better scripts when I was ten.
Also, Clara is alright (barely) but this Pink dude is the worst. “No honey I don’t understand why you’d rather time travel than cuddle on the couch with me” are you fucking kidding me?
This last season was SO BAD, and I’m really trying hard not to let it bleed into my enjoyment of previous seasons.
We officially lost interest this last season, we made it through Time Heist and that’s it. They keep using music and shouting to try to manipulate the audience into believing something worthwhile is happening and I hate it.
You achieved coffee. You win!
Watching the CBC cover the CBC’s mismanagement of the Ghomeshi situation is fascinating, in a perverse sort of way. I keep seeing Peter Mansbridge talk about how Rubin’s report has found mismanagement in the CBC’s handling of workplace harrassment and thinking “dude, you’re talking about your OWN BOSS! What are you thinking, Peter? Tell us how you feel, Peter. I want to know everything.”

Can’t find the words to adequately describe my feelings towards Laura’s piece…just. so. good.
I’m currently battling with anxiety (recently diagnosed as a chronic teeth grinder/clencher which isn’t helping – another thing to be anxious over…will I chip another tooth in my sleep?!) and feel like a lead weight has permanently settled on my chest.
Here’s to making the magic *raises peanut butter toast*
Man, I am really loving the “Who Would You Rather” series! They are so satisfying and sound eerily similar to things I’ve said with my friends.
Speaking as someone who once inadvertently bought a heroin addict's works from wwii or the korean war (it was in a really cool box!), yes.
OK but f’real backsplashes are great and keep your walls from being disgusting.

And some of the pieces are signed or otherwise identifiable! Like, I can imagine not knowing how to get in touch with people, but Google that shit and see if there's somebody who could help you track down the original owner or his/her descendants.
YES NICOLE tabatas are amazing and I am so grateful for my gym teacher for introducing me to them because otherwise I would never exercise and this way it’s just 4 minutes and you’re done and you feel it right there in your muscles and it’s great. Everyone should do tabatas.
I would love, love for there to be some kind of article/book about this. Although I understand that people might not want to be interviewed for it- either as the family member trying to send things back or as the family member receiving things.
