Cocktail Hour: Tell Spock All About It

photoThis, the finest hostess gift ever, was acquired in Newburg, Ontario, from an artist who had despaired of ever selling it.

Let us reflect on his stained-glass visage, left lonely for years on a card table while others picked out pictures of flowers and cats, and discuss our week.

So how about that JT song? Before you ask, I did not write a song, of course I am referring to the lesser JT, Justin Timberlake, and his bewilderingly tasteless “Take Back the Night”.

Also, I guess my piece is set for publishing in the near future! Surely worth all the headaches I inflicted upon the editors.

What’s everyone listening to today? I am listening to Snow Ghosts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rirlE2lNJ_0

    1. johnwthompson +1

Also I am looking for two upstanding Denverites to take two tickets to Big Lebowski at Red Rocks off my hands. They’re gratis, I’ll be on vacation with my family and I just don’t want them wasted. I’ve put the call out on several platforms and have yet to get a response. Get at me!

      1. roxythroatpunch +1

Wait, they’re doing Big Lebowski this year? I didn’t see that on the schedule.

I was hoping you were going to say you had two tickets to Brandi Carlile tomorrow night. FOILED.

        1. johnwthompson +1

It’s a special screening they put on as a Kickstarter incentive, the Denver Film Society needed to upgrade their equipment, as so many indie film outfits do these days. The showing’s on the 31st. Should be a blast – I went 4 or 5 years ago and it was marvelous.

They apparently kept it off the calendar but you can get tickets here – ** aw nuts they shut it down. Or maybe you need to have been a backer? That’s probably it. If more than two people want to go I can arrange to buy more.

but y’all should take mine for real

          1. roxythroatpunch +1

Oh ack, my mom’s going to be in town. EXCEPT WAIT. Maybe she can babysit? Even better, I was going to decline because it’s on a school night, but we’re on vacation all that week.

SO. Give me five minutes to consult the other guy in my household…

          2. johnwthompson +1

alright, radical. I’ll need your email and I’ll get in touch once the tickets have arrived, shouldn’t be long.

    2. tragicallyludicrous +2

I’ve been weirdly obsessed with Headhunter 3.0 (http://youtu.be/P6618xuP6fQ) for the past week. Does anyone else get suddenly obsessed with songs they’ve probably heard like a hundred times before? Because this keeps happening to me.

      1. johnwthompson +1

oh all the time, but I’ve got such a huge library that I can go afield and after a few months return to something and be all “oh right I’m into this”.

        1. tragicallyludicrous +2

it’s weird because like I probably hadn’t heard the song in years, and then I was trying to remember it, and then it was all I wanted to listen to.

    1. tragicallyludicrous +3

SERIOUSLY. Will this person make more? Put them on the Internet for us all to buy? Will it ship overseas?

    2. laureleye +2

Me toooo. I was at a craft fair thing a couple weeks ago and came thisclose to buying a sweet black and white Spock portrait. If my apartment did not have 70-year-old plaster walls that the landlord has forbidden us from putting holes in I would have been all over it.

      1. anechka27 +2

You should’ve bought it. And moved. I’ve been known to move for less. Which is probably not an extremely great thing. But in this case, totally worth it! For the Spock!

        1. laureleye +2

You’re probably right, I’ve been thinking about it for the past two weeks. I mean, I don’t want to move because I love everything else about my apartment and its location and we’d have trouble finding another place in the neighborhood we could afford, but I could have figured something out. I’m sorry, Spock!

      2. tkipsky +2

My dad. to my eternal jealousy, has a black and white photo portait of Spock with his lyre on his office wall. He is a composer and musician, so this is perfect. But I want it.

  2. flimflannery

This week was kind of promising. I found a fellowship application I’m actually excited about, I get to go on vacation next week, I made a few friends, I wrote some stuff I feel good about. My biggest decision is debating whether or not to take my cat away for the weekend.

  3. thatneilguy +1

    [raises one eyebrow]

    Fascinating.

Sorry, I had to say it. Please don’t ban me!

  4. MalloryOrtberg +16

    Tell Spock about it
    Tell him everything you feel
    Give him every reason
To accept that you’re for real

    Tell Spock about it
Tell him all your crazy dreams
Let him know you need him
Let him now how much he means

Cos now and then he’ll get to worrying
Just because you haven’t spoken for so long
And though you may not have done anything
Will that be a consolation when he’s gone?

  5. catnamedvirtute +1

I have sooooo much to catch up on because I was housesitting sans internet this week, but I really love what I have read so far. I’m especially excited about all the bookclubbing! I have been meaning to read both Middlemarch and King Kong Theory for aaaaaaaages, so this is a good kick in the butt. In the meantime I just started reading Clarise Lispector’s Near to the Wild Heart and ohhh my goodness is it great.

Also I got my astrology chart and tarot read for the first time last week, which is a very out of character thing for me to do, but Jessa Crispin from Bookslut and Spolia was offering a writing-specific skype reading as part of Spolia’s black magic issue, and I figured why not. Plus it was my birthday this week and who can’t use a little extra wisdom as they go into a new year. It was terrifyingly accurate. Luckily she follows up with a reading list.

Minor baking mishap! I made a batch of my usual chocolate cake batter and used half of it as-is for cupcakes and the other half I added sprinkles to for chocolate funfetti (so I thought). But the funfetti ones completely exploded and made a mess and were unsalvageable. What happened? (Science!)

        1. romastrega +2

WOW, that is pretty amazing science-wise. I just got a book called “Cooking for Geeks” which is all about the science of cooking so maybe I’ll discover the answer sometime soon?

        2. bgprincipessa +2

I really really need to know how this happened. I am so fascinated. A quick Google search hasn’t gotten me anywhere…

          1. EPWordsnatcher +1

I am still SO CONFUSED. I tried this technique with my usual vanilla batter and it worked just fine. Chocolate, for whatever reason, does not…?

        3. kat bee +1

This is late but I just wanted to hazard a guess. I think there’s a reason it’s chocolate-specific! If you use cocoa powder in your cupcakes, the coating on the sprinkles could react with the cocoa powder, depending on what kind of powder you use. Dutch-processed powder has been acid-neutralized, but regular cocoa powder hasn’t. I have no idea what sprinkles are made of actually but my guess would be that the pH of the sprinkles and the pH of the chocolate ingredient combined to make cupcake volcanoes.

  7. roxythroatpunch +1

Okay, so I have a hair appointment tomorrow morning (FINALLY my hair is out of control) and am still debating about doing this to it. I haven’t colored my hair in ages – and when I did, my stylist didn’t do a very good job – so I’m a little gun shy. (I have a new stylist now, never fear.) Plus, maybe I’m too old for such trendy nonsense?

Other than that my week was boring. I had my first bout of pregnancy nausea – I had NONE when I was pregnant the first time – that kept me home from work on Monday. So that annoyed me. Happily, there was no actual puking and I’ve felt better since then.

    1. tentacleparty +1

I love that! Interesting but not too trendy, just make sure your hair dresser actually gets what’s going on there, a friend of mine tried for ombre and ended up with chunky blonde streaks…

      1. roxythroatpunch +1

Yeah, definitely. He’s waaaaaay cooler (and younger) than me, so I feel like he’d get it. I also feel like he’d talk me out of it if he thought it was terrible, so I feel alright at least bringing it up.

    2. lyetteann +1

Ooh, do it! If you hate it, you can just cut off the dyed bits and since you’re preggers, it’ll grow back in no time.

  8. S. Pebbletush +13

Life is happening! I purchased a piece of jewelry that has a significant meaning to be worn upon a lady’s left hand for my ladyfriend!

I went to IKEA and got a bed frame that is super cute and wasn’t terribly expensive!

I just had a weird allergic reaction to some random lady’s perfume and ran out of the Starbucks I was in clutching my nose while my eyes were starting to swell up!

A dress I wanted to buy all summer is 60% off — it’s a jersey wrap dress from Boden and it has polka dots! I love Boden, they cut their jersey dresses nicely for people with busty figures.

      1. S. Pebbletush +4

Thank you! We’ve been talking about it for a while and we’re pretty egalitarian and practical about it. Like, it is planned, we both know it’s happening, there’s very little surprise, etc. I like it that way — I would be really pissed off if someone decided that they were going to “pop the question” without any warning or planning or asking me. Marriage is a big economic/legal/cultural/religious thing for us and I am pretty firm that it was a decision we needed to make together, and no, she was not going to ask my father. My father does not get a say in whether or not I can get married.

        1. roxythroatpunch +2

Oh ugh, when I got engaged the first time, we HAD talked about getting married. And decided to wait. And then a month later he proposed IN FRONT OF MY FAMILY. I said yes, because I was 22 and too nice, but it didn’t end well. Not surprisingly.

        2. bgprincipessa +1

If you don’t mind my asking – you mention that it is a religious thing for you both on top of everything else – is your ceremony going to be religious? (I realize that may not have been a thought yet, one thing at a time) Is your religion accepting of this? (What religion?)

          1. S. Pebbletush +3

My partner is in seminary, she’s Unitarian Universalist, yes they are accepting.

For the record: there are lots of religions that recognize same-sex marriage and will perform ceremonies. A lot of Reform Jewish congregations, Unitarians, the United Church of Christ, some progressive Islamic groups etc. The Episcopal Church has a blessing for same-sex unions that is different from a marriage.

          2. bgprincipessa +1

Awesome! I was mostly just curious, I am glad I was able to learn something. I realized I didn’t actually say CONGRATULATIONS in the first comment – sounds very exciting!

    1. Linette +1

Congratulations! On all of the things but the allergy. But maybe the allergy? maybe it saved you from certain death? Definitely the other three, though.

      1. S. Pebbletush +1

The worst part was that there were French tourists around as I was waiting for the train having this allergy “fluid coming out of my puffy itchy face” thing. They stared at me like I was nuts.

    1. mbculver +2

Wow, that is great. My husband is rewatching all the Voyagers on Netflix, and I find myself slightly obsessed with Janeway’s quasi-Victorian hairdo.

  9. Agnes_Gooch +4

Who’s got two thumbs and just started re-reading Middlemarch? This gal right here. So far, A+++++ job. It holds up to my impression of it.

  10. anninyn +3

Well, my husband might be being made redundant, so… bad weeks.

On the other hand we went to see pacific rim and it’s good, plus Idris Elba is hot, so I’m thinking about that instead.

    1. johnwthompson +2

The BBC1 copper show Luther is currently airing its third season if you can’t get enough of the future Mr. Bond.* Be advised however – the show is well brutal, and you have to watch it through extra-legal means in the states unless you want to wait for BBC America (and maybe even then depending on your cable package or lack thereof).

*This is a reference to Idris Elba’s apparent favor for the post-Craig James Bond role, it is not meant to imply that my name is Bond and I intend to take Elba as my husband.

      1. anninyn +1

I’m in the UK. I’m one episode behind right now, though.

And damn straight, he’s not your husband. It’ll be hard to marry you unless he breaks out of the chains.

        1. johnwthompson +2

I’m not vibin’ on this series so much. I mean I love Idris, I love Cop on the Edge shows, but this one’s a bit glum and lacking the sheer pulp joie de vivre of earlier series. Where are my blood-drinking aristocrats? Where is my so-wrong-but-so-right cop/psychopath romance? At least give Luther someone to discuss black holes and nihilism with, I mean really.

I like that irish dude, though. Man is so grizzled.

I’ve been mulling a “Cop on the Edge” article idea. I was warmly rebuffed by my first choice but I think maybe I’ll shop it around. Seems like the sort of thing Maura Johnston would like, who knows.

          1. anninyn +3

Yes, personally I prefer my Luther barely hanging on to his self-esteem and sanity by a thread, being in a strange, non-sexual love affair with a psychopath.

But I will watch Idris Elba in anything, so…

    2. Abanthis +2

Pacific Rim is so good! It fulfils all its promises of giant robots punching aliens while managing not to be enraging or cringeworthy, and comparatively few glaring plotholes. A rare feat. Plus, as you say, I could happily watch Idris Elba in anything.

      1. EPWordsnatcher +2

PREACH. It is amazing. I found one plothole but that is all, and it’s a minor one at that. It is also spoilery as hell so maybe we can retire to another thread and discuss. But SUCH A GOOD MOVIE, everyone should go see it twice.

        1. Abanthis +1

Was it how [very final scene] is possible, and why [stupid idea] was not such a stupid idea after all? Those nagged at my mind. Also, on the pros, I forgot, it has the voice of GLaDOS, inspiring instant reflexive fear.

          1. EPWordsnatcher +2

No, mine was more related to [POSSIBLE VAGUE SPOILERY SPOILERS] escape pods and why not everyone gets to/thinks to use them…? But YES to voice of GLaDOS, excellent touch.

          2. Abanthis +2

Ah, how the hell the pods work was definitely puzzling. I can only conclude that narratives>logistics so that the pods only work for those whose character development arc is at a satisfying stage.

  11. missellabell +1

I have deleted, because whinging is unpleasant, and what Twitter is for. Should I get a haircut, Toasties/Spocklets?

      1. missellabell +1

Haircuts are the most stressful thing in the world, largely because I have to say things like ‘If you cut it, it will be curly. No, no, I mean really curly. So if you cut it to shoulder length when wet, it will be round my ears when it’s dry. No, no, I know it doesn’t look like that right now. Just trust me? Trust me?” And they never do. And then I get a stupid round-my-ears haircut.

        1. greyhavens9 +1

Oh, I know that pain. Have you tried telling them to cut it, say, 3 inches past your shoulders so that when it does dry and curl, it’ll be shoulder length? I often have to ask for my hair longer than I really want it because it’ll curl up so much when it’s freshly cut.

    1. tkipsky +1

Yes. Always, yes. Haircuts are once of the wondrous things to lift a humdrum day/week/month.

  12. rebecca +11

As a companion to your stained-glass Spock, let me present corrugated cardboard Kirk. Procured for $5 during an open studios weekend in my neighborhood a few years ago, he is wedged into a corner of our kitchen always, watching over us.

    photo-21

    1. johnwthompson +7

Stained glass Spock vs. cardboard Kirk is apropos, is it not

The caliber of acting ability reflected materially

      1. rebecca +5

A bit cold, but surprisingly fragile, versus…a bit flimsy and rough around the edges?

        1. johnwthompson +2

          Precisely.

I did see Shatner during the 4th of July Twilight Zone marathon. Did you see him in the 50’s? Dude was still Shatner, obviously, but he was a stone fox in his day.

  13. icebergmama +15

you guys I posted a status update on Facebook marked Ladies Only aboutthe importance of peeing immediately after sex, and the only comments were douchey ones from a broseph-y coworker, and then my husband emailed me like “what is wrong with you why would you post that on Facebook?”

I mean tell me that was not a good PSA to post!? I have a couple of female high-school aged FB friends that I’m not close enough with to tell them this straight, but I KNOW they ain’t getting this realtalk in health class or whatever.

    1. tentacleparty +4

      keep fighting the good fight!

still bitter that we had time to sloooooowly go through slides of STI photos but not one measly comment about the impending doom that was UTI’s.

    2. missellabell +8

I found it out off Twitter at least a couple of years after I should have done. NOBODY EVER TELLS YOU THESE THINGS. Consider this a Facebook like.

      1. roxythroatpunch +3

Word. I found out after college, I think. I forget how, but I do remember how much better it made my life.

        1. missellabell +5

The thing is, nobody ever says it, or shows it.
Nobody in films ever gets up to for a post-shag wee, they just…lounge, sexily. Or fall asleep, sexily. But then, nobody in films gets cystitis, either. Not even sexily.

    3. rebecca +2

      I think that’s a fantastic PSA. If I didn’t make this a habitual practice, I’d be on Bactrim 365 days a year!

    4. msjinxie +2

Your husband’s nuts – that was a GREAT PSA to post, and I only wish someone had clued me in like that when I was a young Jinx.

    5. S. Pebbletush +4

KEEP TELLING THEM. I did not get that message early enough and I’m super prone to UTIs.

PSA: If it is really really really good G-spot action, you will feel like you need to pee. You won’t pee. Trust me. But pee afterward, THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Another PSA: That AZO stuff they sell in the pharmacy is awesome, drink it with a lot of water, keep peeing, and don’t be alarmed when your pee is bright orange. It works way better than chugging cranberry juice.

      1. bgprincipessa +2

That first PSA in your post is something I needed to know. See! And they don’t tell you these things…

    6. Sea_Money +3

It was good! You should link that post to the really good hairpin post about vaginal health “Return to South Mouth Kingdom” I guess I sort of understand people being embarrassed by such conversations…. but that is the point! If everyone goes around saying “I’ll never talk about UTIs on the internet!” Then no one read about UTIs on the internet.

And your post is really timely because I have really been wanting to tell someone about what a good post sex pee-r I’ve been lately. I tried to explain the importance of this to manfriend and he was not sufficiently impressed.

    7. HomestarRunner +1

I feel like this story is more a PSA about not FB-friending coworkers. I would have appreciated the UTI reminder but I refuse to be connected to professional contacts on FB just so I don’t have to censor myself like that.

    8. carolita +2

I actually have a list called “ladies only,” on facebook, composed of… ladies only. When I want to post something just for my lady friends about menopause, menstruation, sex, or whatever, I choose that audience option in the status drop down list, and I don’t have to worry about guys who don’t want to know stuff. I may add an “honorary lady” or two eventually.

  14. cherrispryte +10

Um, y’all, I think this site may be a problem for me.
If anyone cares to remember (which, really, why would you) I used to constantly be commenting on the Awl and the Hairpin, but that dropped off when I got promoted last December, and in Shiny New Job, I simply do not have time to read fun stuff on the internet. I’d been doing kind of well with focusing! But this past week has been not good. This site – the articles and the commenters – have been hilarious and perfect and I would really like to spend my entire day just reading/commenting, which I did way more of than I should have been this week, and now it’s after 6 on a Friday and I’m trying to catch up with email from Tuesday and that’s really really not good and I feel horrible and do not know what to do. I mean, other stuff is also a factor, but ugh.

    BE LESS COMPELLING, WEBSITE.

    1. anninyn +3

I have that problem only I am an unpublished writer, so I spend my whole day here instead of writing.

Consider doing what I do and rewarding yourself for x amount of work with y amount of internet time. Because I’m writing I got for word count, but you could do it based on something else.

    2. missellabell +3

      1. I remember you!
      2. Same problem. New job starts Monday; so much work from Other Things to do before Monday; all I do is read The Toast because it is Just So Great.

    3. bgprincipessa +1

      I remember you as well!

I don’t know if this is something that you are interested in, but there are websites that you can use to limit your time on certain websites. The one I use at work is a Chrome extension called StayFocusd. I have it set to only allow me a total of 10 minutes of time combined on Facebook and Twitter each day. After that it just blocks me, saying SHOULDN’T YOU BE WORKING? It has helped me because even when I am on there I know that my time is counting down.

[Disclaimer: there are of course some simple ways to get around it, but I think overall my motivation prevents that.]

Just a suggestion. it doesn’t work for everyone, but it may help. Another thing that I find helps is logging out of the accounts – if I go to the site and want to do something (comment, or see FAcebook at all for example) but have to log in before doing so, it is sometimes enough push to convince me to just X and go back to doing work.

  15. lyetteann +23

I met Robert Downey Jr today! He looked and sounded exactly like you would expect him to. It was delightful. I talked to him for all of ten seconds, the highlight of which was this:

    Him: “That your kid?”

    Me: “Yup.”

    Him: “Cute kid. Good job!”

    Me: “Thanks!”

  16. anninyn +1

Turns out that thinking of Idris Elba doesn’t magically make stress go away.

    Sigh. In Whisky, Veritas.

We JUST bought a house. Now my husbands work are jsut jettisoning staff. They are cutting his team from 5 to 3, and people from outside the team are also applying for positions. He’s had to reapply for his own job.

It’s not.. awful if they do make him redundant. They have to give him 20 grand and with his skills he’d be able to do contract or freeance for a bit, while using the redundancy to pay our mortgage, before he found something full time but

    fuck

    talk about terrible timing, yeah?

They’re the biggest employer in the city, and because they sold off their american assets for less than a third of its worth, they are making all these stupid, penny-wise pound-foolish decisions, because in a year they are just going to have to hire all new people.

But the guy who sold the assets keeps his job and his triple-figure bonus.

    1. johnwthompson +1

Dang 🙁 hopefully if the axe does come down, the severance will allow enough breathing room to make smooth the transition to the next phase of your life. But uncertainty is the worst thing.

      1. anninyn +1

It’s jsut so… frustrating. His team managers basically forced the CEO’s to make the decisions this month so that people weren’t wandering around for three months wondering if they were going to have a job at the end of it.

And so many of our friends have lost work. They are the biggest employer for our city.

And we have plans for if it happens, I jsut need to know if we have to put them into practice. I don’t deal well with change at the best of times (I have an anxiety disorder) and this is making me so ill.

  17. tkipsky +1

Well, we’re moving, so our house is full of boxes. I hate moving. But the good news is, I won’t have to commute an hour and a half for a job at which I only make $9/hr plus supposed tips, which have so far failed to materialize in any substantial or meaningful way.

Still loving it here in the Toaster.

Yesterday was my birthday, a date a share with my mom’s only home-bred filly, who is now three (to my 28. I love being 28! Goodbye, 27. I am twenty-eight. What a harmonious number. A nice phonaesthetic!).

So now I am 28, and Grace is three, and this past November, Grace’s mom colicked and died. My own mom has been grieving Cali’s loss in a serious way. Like to the degree that she invokes the loss of HER mother and my late dad when she has haltingly tried to account for the pain. BIG PAIN.

Cali’s ashes have been in six velvet pouches (lady was, herself, also BIG) in a wooden box in the kitchen since she died. I figured it was time for some closure. A few weeks ago, I asked my mom if we could spread Cali’s ashes on my & Grace’s birthday. I also asked if she could write a few words about Grace, Cali, and Cali’s legacy that I could post on my (horse industry) business blog. Closure.

We did; she did. My mom killed it. Killed it, guys. It’s an overshare, it’s too fucking personal, and oh my god is it maudlin–my mom is so maudlin, you guys–but we finished a chapter yesterday. Champaign, some words, and Cali’s ashes in all the fields she lived and played in and across the front of my birthday-dinner wedges. And I’m so happy for my mom. She said she felt lighter today in a way she hasn’t in months.

Love your charges, as my mom wrote. And go in peace, sweet Cali.

And goddamnit, happy birthday, baby Grace, you outrageous sassmaster. Stay for now. How we love you.

Is this a safe space to admit how much Aidan Quinn on Elementary does it for me? I have to say, I was pretty sure my new TV boyfriend from that show would be Jonny Lee Miller. Huh.

    1. meanchelled +1

Ummmm yes absolutely?? God, remember when he was in Practical Magic? Remember Practical Magic?! He’s pretty dishy as not-Lestrade, too.

Anyway, I’ll coming looking for you when the SHIELD tv show premieres and Clark Gregg’s bureaucratic competency completely levels my sanity.

I’ve had a low-level thing for Aidan Quinn since Desperately Seeking Susan. This reminds me that I should be watching Elementary, since I’ve also always liked Jonny Lee Miller.

It’s been A WEEK guys. I mean, I can’t REALLY complain because there was a gigantic terrible awful terrible train explosion in quebec, and the flooding in calgary is like WAYYYYY UP HERE and the flooding in toronto is like wayyyyy down there. but my grandma’s basement which, two years after my grandfather’s death, is still filled to the rafters with the results of his hoarding, got flooded in all the places. it’s been a week man. I’m going to bed at 10 pm on a friday and I DON’T EVEN GIVE A CARE.

    i didn’t even have a cocktail 🙁

Oof. I’m sorry about that. This similarly happened to my grandmother during Hurricane Irene (2011), about 3 years after my grandfather had passed away, and same thing: a loooot of stuff that he had hoarded and we had already gone through and tried to cut down was flooded. And it was actually my grandmother’s whole place and then there was mold and she had to move to a new place, which was better in the end because she has more sunlight – silver lining. It’ll come, I promise.

In my head now, you’re all Tostitas. And I had tostadas for dinner. I was going to cap off my week with a glass of wine, but the bottle I could have sworn was in my fridge has mysteriously disappeared, so I’ll have to make do with a cider.

I had the deliriously delicious Whole Foods prepared section dinner of “savory mushroom bread pudding.” OMG. So good.

Okay, ladies. I was already enthused by The Toast’s early weeks, but waking up to a stained glass Spock peering dispassionately to my left?

    I am yours.

The link just loops back to this page! I am fascinated by this idea though.

OH MY GOD YOU GUYS. this happened yesterday but I haven’t been able to get back here until now. So yesterday while the kids were napping some lady calls me because my first name and phone number were in her husband’s phone. and she wants to know how I know him! She was like “did you meet him in a bar downtown???” Only problem is, I don’t even recognize his name. So now I can’t explain how I know him, because I DON’T, so she’s still worried and now I’M freaking out too because how did this dude get my number?! I don’t even GO to bars let alone go out without my husband let alone give my number to random dudes.

ANYWAY eventually after thinking about it for a while and checking some dates I figured out he probably responded to a Craigslist ad I had, and that’s why he had my details and I didn’t remember him because I spoke to a lot of people. So I called her back and asked if he had been looking for a new place for them to rent, and she said yes, and I was like, thank god we can BOTH stop worrying!!!

    aaahhh.

she should maybe think of getting her own place if she doesn’t trust her husband to that extent! Seriously. That’s bad.
