I got bored of antique toast racks, so today you got a fork instead.

This week, let’s use this space to deliberately draw your attention to just a few pieces I would be so sad for you to have missed.

1. Heather Seggel, “A Christmas Story”

Heather writes so movingly, and with such humor, and her clear-eyed perspective on the role of poverty in her life is something I could happily publish every day.

2. Evette Dionne, “The Chickenhead in Me: Hip-Hop Feminism”

I wish this was nine times longer.

3. Laura Passin, “Sir David Attenborough, My Secular Saint”

Laura is another repeat author for us who I think is just a stellar, stellar talent, and this one brought me to tears.

4. Claire Barliant, “An Interview With Louise Lasser”

I liked how Claire let Lasser speak for herself. She’s a complicated person, and Barliant lets that land without a bunch of commentary.

5. Jamey Hatley, “Praisesong for the Postcard”

Short, perfect.
