I’ll add Harvard to this list, especially because they’re hampering education. This year at the university we got a memo related only to their material. They are hyper-vigilant and drastically overstep what is and is not illegal as far as fair usage, but everyone’s terrified of them because of their deep pockets.
The school pays untold mountains of money to subscribe to their various resources. Fair use should allow students to use them for educational purposes, especially because the school is paying for them. The software has been rigged so that neither printing nor saving is possible for anyone accessing documents, on campus or not. We are advised that it is illegal to post copies of documents, that it is illegal to post links to copies of the documents, and that it is illegal to provide links to paid-for sources where the documents are freely available on the university’s sites. Apparently the only thing we are legally allowed to do is to describe verbally in class how a student wanting to get their hands on such a document could do the search in the library.
We received the memo for Harvard material only and received no direction on any other material.

boring short story: I was supposed to be a costumer on that movie, but the original designers hired for it (who, in turn, hired me) were nuts and got fired on the second day of production, which worked well, because I went in to work that day to quit. I am sure the people they hired for the film instead were decent human beings and I sort of want to see it now. The End.
