My friend had an ‘Egyptian’ Tarot deck-ridiculous, because it had like Victorian levels of orientalist kistch, but…the people were fairly brown. Yeah, bit of a way to go re tarot diversity I guess.

I have the Tarot of the Cat People (because of course I do), and almost all the people on those cards are varying shades of brown. The aesthetic is very much inspired by indigenous South American civilizations.

For someone not terribly familiar with Tarot decks, how many cards don’t have swords?
There’s 78 total, people draw all kinds of wierd shit on the major arcana which may or may not include swords depending but there’s only 13 cards where swords are, like, mandatory.
Yeah, “swords” are like what hearts, clubs, diamonds and…the other ones are to a normal deck of cards. Only more elaborately drawn, and with more images of death and foreboding.
Strange hands reaching out from clouds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government! Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical atmospheric ceremony!
Are there any Toastians who do tarot readings on Fiverr or anything? I would love to a) get guidance b) support my people. (When I do readings for myself I get the Nine of Swords over and over and over again, which has to be because I’m not doing it right and can’t be because I am in a rut and very down and trapped by unrealistic expectations…right?)

My first tarot deck was Brian William’s PoMo deck and sixteen year old me did not properly appreciate how fantastic it was.
It had guns instead of swords and the ten of guns has the guy from Edvard Munch’s The Scream with a whole bunch of floating guns pointing at his head and “you have been chosen by the guns” works equally well.
I love these. I feel so rosy with enlightenment now.
