At Long Last Love is one of the worst-reviewed movies of all time, and while I’m not going to fight that here, I will insist that it has moments, and that’s really all you can ask of anything.
Oh, my heart…it’s bursting to capacity. This is bloody-banging-brilliant. Although now I want to ditch work and have a Madeline Kahn Monday movie marathon. Who’s in?

This is one of my favorite things in the world.
It’s only briefly apparent, but Madeline Kahn’s delight in being carried offstage like a battering ram in Blazing Saddles is one of my favorite little moments in all of movie-dom. (sorry for the so-so image quality)

I was named after her, and I’m pretty darn sure that will forever and always be the coolest thing about me.
I would totally name a kid Kahn, but I’d be afraid my friends would assume she’s named after Ricardo Montalban.
OH! I almost forgot! I did a sign language performance of “Primitive Man” for my ASL class back ages ago and my (second wave) feminist teacher was not at all amused and I remember being so disappointed because I was young and thought everyone found irony as hilarious as I did.
Just curious, but what did you do for the part where she sings in French? Did you switch to French Sign Language?
The version I used didn’t have the French part. I wish I still had a recording of it. I taped it from a friend’s vinyl. It was by some early 90s alt band from Texas.

I wandered over from Pajiba for the post about Velveteen Rabbit, and then started wandering around and I cannot even put into words the joy I felt at seeing the phrase ‘Madeline Kahn Monday.’ BRILLIANT. I adore Madeline (even in the things that were… not so great overall, she generally still was) and I am so excited about this, I had to register for this comment system just so I could share my appreciation.
