I have no doubt that literally all of these things happened exactly as drawn. Humans are the worst.

What is it about amusement parks that brings out the beast in people? Maybe it’s the hot concrete and over-crowding. Maybe it’s the weird chemical cocktail that results from rewarding hours of intense discomfort and boredom in line with 75 seconds of pure fear and adrenaline. Maybe it’s the idea that if you spent $65 bucks to enter and then anther $12 for funnel cake, you can treat it as your personal toilet. IDK. But you see some serious bottom-of-the-barrel behavior there. I won’t even set foot in the water parks.

(This comes with the massive caveat that I also adore thrill rides and kitschy shit and funnel cake and am going to Six Flags Fright Fest this weekend.)

I will die happy if I never set foot in another theme park or amusement park again. Yes, this includes Disneyland. Can. Not.

I used to run rides at a discount-masquerading-as-vintage amusement park in western NY. I can vouch for the accuracy of this. All of this.

I also got spit on, threatened with bodily harm, and called a stupid white bitch a couple times a week.

As a former lifeguard in a water park, I can only say THE HORROR, THE HORROR.

I also have a technical query. My Toast homepage is stuck on content from October 18 for some reason. For a few days now, I’ve been very concerned that something awful happened to the Toast editrixes, so I was relieved to go to the Twitter feed and discover it was business as usual around here. But the Twitter links seem to be the only way I can get to the newer posts–if I click on “home” or go to the url “the-toast.net,” it shoots me back to the October 18 content. I tried clearing my cookies and browsing history and that didn’t help. Any ideas for me????

Doing hard refreshes and clearing the cache has been working for most people (we had a new caching widget which caused the issues, but it’s ironed out now.) Your cache is different from your browser history, apparently (learning!) and you can do a hard refresh based on your individual browser (google it!)
