She’s so perfect.
THANK YOU FOR THIS. I am very much looking forward to the Toast’s extensive and detailed Center Stage anniversary coverage when the moment comes. #youdidn’thavethefeetmomidon’thavetheheart2k15
Yup. Moar Center Stage, please.
I could not get anyone to watch it with me in 1999 (out of my two friends) so my mom dropped me off at the movie theater to watch it alone. But I like to believe I was a true visionary then.
Stage right? Yesterday I was stage left. I wonder what I’m going to be tomorrow.
If you really try, you can find a lot of occasions to say, “I am the best goddamn dancer in the American Ballet Academy. Who the hell are you? Nobody,” and then flounce out. Even if you don’t dance.
Sadly, there are fewer opportunities to point out that Columbia doesn’t have a pre-med major.
In fact, you can pretty much only do that when you’re watching the movie with your sister.
My friend and I have a long and colourful history of doing JUST THAT. That line is a gift to all mankind. (By the way, we don’t dance. I begged my mother to let me give up ballet.)
“And the elephant goes, ‘Ow, ow,’ and the mouse says, ‘Take it all, bitch!'”
*shocked mom face*
I was watching Phantom Regiment’s colorguard rehearsal over the weekend. Their show this year is Swan Lake and they start the show in two lines raising their arms through the first five counts and I was waiting for one of the instructors to say “How do you expect 3,000 people to watch you raise your arm if you don’t do it beautifully?” and No One Did. So sad.
WHAT A WASTE
I watched this on Saturday! Still amazing.
I was just saying that this needed to happen and now they are here and a thing of beauty.
I will go to my grave defending Center Stage as the best dance movie of all time.
Next up: Jody’s infamous and not-awkward-at-all “I MADE DESSERT….YOU KNOW, FOR NEXT TIME” imposed over famous screenshots throughout the 20th century.
“She’s a heartbeat away from tattooing your name on her ass.”
This is a quote with a lot of real life applications.
IMPORTANT QUESTION: how bad actually is Center Stage: Turn It Up? too bad to watch? I mean, they couldn’t even find a good title it’s like this weird mixed metaphor… why didn’t they just go with like “Center Stage 2: Bigger Stage” or something I don’t know
I can’t believe no one helped me with this
Oh my god! As a die hard fan of Center Stage (I’m a dancer, we’re required by law to love it), I am so freaking amused by this.
