Today is American Thanksgiving! You may have some feelings about it, or you might have already celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving, or you might just really like stuffing. Here is your place to talk amongst yourselves about that.
Important news: Tambourine Guy is going to be in the Thanksgiving Day Parade. From Facebook:
So…breaking news…I’ll be on a float at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade tomorrow morning!
I’ll be on the float for a children’s tv network (can’t tell you which one yet), and I’ll be singing a song which will be LIVE between 10 and 10:20 am.
Will I have a tambourine? No. Will I be playing AIR TAMBOURINE as the song ends? YES!
Also, today is my birthday. I am grateful to be 27 years old and no longer trapped in Portales, New Mexico. What are you grateful for?

I am grateful for family and friends and the Toast and March of the Wooden Soldiers and Addams Family Values.
Also for my mom making me French toast and bacon for breakfast.
Happy birthday!!
I am grateful that I no longer work at my old job, a mid-size film festival with a boss who I have noticed is continuously ignoring emails about dropping the ball on an important VIP sponsor she totally fucked up on fulfilling the needs of. I feel really bad and I just want to email them back, “I don’t work there any more and I have no idea what happened but I’m so sorry and she’s cucoo for cocoa puffs but hopefully she’ll stop being passive aggressive and reply to you soon!”
Happy birthday, Mallory!
I’m thankful for my friends and this website and the chance to sleep as long as I want to last night and tonight and the night after tomorrow and Saturday too.
I can’t believe Mallory is only 27. But she contains the wisdom of ages!
Happy Thanksbirthgiving, Mallory, you prodigy, you!
I saw Tambourine Guy on the parade and tried to get the 4-year-old excited, but he was more impressed by Chica, the puppet bird who was on the same float. “I didn’t know Chica was real!”
Tambourine Guy is less magical without his tambourine.
(Happy birthday, Mallory!)
I am considering risking my life by going to the store tomorrow because my cat ruined my phone.
I downloaded an app that is essentially a cat toy, where the animation responds to paws on the touchscreen. My cat REALLY got into it and decided he needed to chew apart the entire device. Utter cuteness aside, the app was a bad idea.
Does anybody have any opinions about the Samsung Note 3 phone? Does that S pen actually work, and most importantly, is the screen large enough to comfortably read an e-book?
(Still unbelievably grateful to have my cat. He’s a good little creature.)
Probably the cutest way a phone has EVER been ruined
Happy birthday! I’m grateful that now that I am in full cook mode (I’m making everything: my friends are bringing beverages) I no longer have the headache I had all of yesterday and part of Tuesday. And I’m always thankful to no longer be married to my spouse (thank you, Massachusetts for making both queer marriage and queer divorce possible).
I am grateful for getting to be in grad school in Holland, for all I bitch about it, and the thousand remixes of Bastille’s “Of the Night” that I am listening to while I try to write up this course description.
hey, I’M in grad school in Holland, too! (Almost. Like, I will be in February.)
Ooo, neat! Where at/what for?
Law and Utrecht. You?
Hey, I live in Utrecht! I did media studies there, and am now doing a PhD in Rotterdam. It’s a lovely city, Utrecht, and Neutral Milk Hotel will be here in May, so it’s got that going for it.
Happy birthday! Happy not-stuck-in-a-ditch day! (You’re not in a ditch again, right? Because if you are, that sounds kinda snide.)
I’m thankful for so much, but today I’m especially thankful that instead of piling into the car, driving two hours, staying for too-few hours with family, and driving two hours home, The Fella and I decided to spend Thanksgiving at home. That means pajamas and beer and cider and lying around laughing like drains and [REDACTED].
And, of course, I’m thankful for someone to alert me to Tambourine Guy’s every professional move.
I am grateful that, when I crashed my car last month, no one (including myself) got hurt.
And that I have the financial freedom to leave my infuriating job if I ever just decide to go and do it.
Also, for having AMAZING cats.
Happy Birthday Mallory!!
I’m having the best year of my life.
Happy birthday, Mallory! Happy Thanksgiving, Americans! Happy Thursday, non-Americans! (Or people who don’t like Thanksgiving.)
I’m thankful because I got to wake up and come downstairs and hug my mom and text my boyfriend and snuggle my dog and wow, is that amazing.
I am thankful for MST3K and mashed potatoes. Wheeeeee!
We’re having an MST3K marathon, too! Are you watching Joel’s streaming show? We went old-school: DVDs of favorite episodes.
I’m watching the stream … Space Mutiny is just finishing up. Gristle McThornbody!
I am thankful for the delightfully seasonal chai spice snickerdoodles I just made! They were really easy and taste fantastic. Here’s the recipe if anyone’s interested: http://www.theppk.com/2012/09/chaispicesnickerdoo…
I AM INTERESTED. YUM. This will be a Christmas season baked good for sure.
Now I’m thankful for them too. Will be making them!
Isa is a goddamn genius.
In lieu of doing anything actually festive I had a stamppot from the Albert Heijn which was actually pretty great, I highly recommend mashed potatoes mixed with kale and bacon (my favorite variety), it could be a good side at Normal Thanksgiving as well.
This might sound shallow, but I am so thankful to be eating someone else’s cooking other than my own!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday Mallory! I tried to make a long list but fuck it, I am thankful for funny people and cats. Order varies seasonally.
What a great birthday-day! Happy Birthday Mallory! The entire nation is toasting you today 🙂
In addition, Rihanna is heavily featured on my Thanksgiving playlist, and I just realized “Man Down” is the perfect theme song for the upcoming Misandrist Revolution.
Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Birthday, Mallory!
I am thankful for friends who are having me over for dinner after work tonight.
I’m also thankful for google hangouts, my infuriating but cute cat, the gym at work and a whole bunch of other stuff. Oh, and Clint Black – it’s deepcuts day on my ipod.
Happy Birthday, Mallory! I am thankful for you and Nicole and Law Daddy and, most especially, this weird and wonderful world you’ve all created here. May your day be gluttonous and ditch-free!

I’m thankful that my ingrown thumbnail is growing out. Also other stuff I guess.
Happy Birthday Mallory!
I’m thankful for my family’s appreciation of pie. There are 5 of us here, and there are already 3 pies. We had pie for breakfast and lunch today. And I’m thankful for my father’s aversion to confrontation, which let me get away with “So [boyfriend] and I will be sleeping in the guest bedroom, right?” without any argument.
Mallory! You’re telling me 1) we have the same birthday (I’m 25 today) b) we both live in Oakland and c) we’re not BFFs yet? Please, let’s make it so. 🙂
Happy birthday to Jasmin!
Aw thanks!
Happy birthday Mallory!
I’m thankful for many things, all of which flew out of my head the moment my mom started telling me which brand of lube she and dad liked best. Now my brain has shut down.
I’m thankful for the Toast! also that the Bergy Bits actually ate some of the special dinner I made last night (spinach & ricotta manicotti/cannelloni)
Late to the party, but according to Facebook, this is what I was thankful for last night:
Kind friends, today, I am thankful for the wonder that is fermentation, giving us both bread and wine, the cornerstones of society, and the reason for civilization. I am thankful for friendship, and love, and food, and pie. I am thankful for deep fried turkey. And autocorrect. VERY thankful for autocorrect.
I am an articulate lush.
