A Series Of Emails About LinkedIn From A Monster

Previously: Your endorsement on LinkedIn means nothing to me.

N.B. Maddie Chavez has been my best friend since high school. She knows my feelings about LinkedIn, yet she respects them not.

One time I idly LinkedIn-searched the dude I had an embarrassingly awkward gigantic mega-crush on for all of middle school…only to find out that he works in a fairly senior position AT LINKEDIN. So he DEFINITELY knows I'm still a creeper.

Well, the worst part about LinkedIn is basically anyone can tell you're a creeper, because LinkedIn TELLS YOU WHO HAS BEEN LOOKING AT YOU. Which. I never want to know that? Because either I don't care or it's an ex. Plus, of course, I'd rather people not know when I've been social network stalking them, so… Ugh, all around.

She probably hacked a new linked in account for you just to make your life even more horrendous. (At least, that's what I'd do, for my best friend.)

I have LinkedIn, but I mostly only use it for finding jobs to apply to. I don't think I have like, EVER endorsed somebody.

Also I just realized the name "LinkedIn" sounds like a social network we have in the Matrix real world where we're all being used as flesh batteries.

I've been job searching for a few months (it's getting reeeeally old) and I have to admit that LinkedIn is good for helping me find friends-of-friends who work for the companies at which I'm applying….not that I can actually connect with them easily or get them to grant me an "informational interview," let alone a referral. Also, I'm still jobless so it's clearly not working very well even for networking. You know what, I've changed my mind–screw LinkedIn!
