“Did you just say you were sending me to Bismarck?”
      “Yeah.”
      “North Dakota?”
      “It’s only overnight.”
      “Am I being punished?”

I knew I could count on my fellow Toasties to get where I was coming from. God Bless North Dakota and their crusade to remove “North” from their name.

I feel like Arizona is the loneliest state, given how easy it is to be sucked into a conversation after being barely civil.

I mean, there are like 30 states I haven’t been to, and like three more where my only experience is airports, so go ahead and be like “Oh it’s definitely Florida/Pennsylvania/Alaska.”

Can you imagine a title of an album by a quiet bearded man with an acoustic guitar and a lot of feelings more apt than “Alone at the very end of Schiermonnikoog island”?

The captionist on the woman watching waves alone on the beach photo seems to have confused “sheer contentment” with loneliness. Tsk.

Maybe someone should just ask the probable beggar if s/he is begging, and then they’ll have a conversation and strike up a friendship and *bam*, your lonely person has just become less so.

Photo of a woman on a beach in Barcelona just before A Man importuned her to find out what she's looking at, and isn't she cold from the wind, that coat doesn't look very heavy, aren't these waves nice?

If I want this coat, I'll wear this goddamn coat, okay? I'm an adult human with decades of experience at determining my own comfort wrt the weather conditions.

I am semi-stranded in Laval right now, leaching internet from a closed Subway. All this to say that I feel “beggar (probably)” describes 90% of the looks people are giving me right now.

The first time I used a closed pub’s wifi from outside, I felt like I was in a cyberpunk future.
