What did your dad do on Valentine's Day?

Mine spent it in the emergency room after almost cutting off his thumb with the table saw. I assume he was building something romantic yet practical.

Dads.

"Is your kid high??"

Dad story: my FIL was trying to get ahold of my husband in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. He texts him. Gets a weird sexual response back, hitting on him.

Does he check if he has the wrong number? Nope!! He assumes that his son is on some kind of weird drug, and starts calling EVERYONE.

I immediately gets calls from my MIL and half his siblings asking if my husband's okay, and if he's on some kind of drug. "No? He's at Home Depot?"

FIL had texted the wrong number.
My parents also made pot roast! When I told my dad we were making crab legs he was like "Oh wow you're so fancy"
there an *actual* DAD Magazine?! brb... spending money...
Chip clips really are the best!

I was at my parents' house with the mr and my brother when I got word about Scalia on Saturday. I yelled "holy shit, Scalia died!" and my dad and mom literally cheered. My brother immediately decided to go level 11 Second Amendment Man. Later, my dad pulled me aside to complain about how the hell did my brother become a libertarian, especially when he's been on L&I for the past 18 months.

Also, in January, I saw the new Star Wars and called my dad to tell him to see it. He saw it the next day and called to yell at me for not telling him about A Big Death.

my dad would be the voice of dissent in that emoji article. he LOVES emojis and, more recently, bitmojis. He had one of his younger coworkers set up his profile so the picture looks EXACTLY like him. Every text conversation we have ends with at least 5 bitmojis.

TIME TO UNFREEZE THE CHOCOLATE YOU BOUGHT ON FEBRUARY 15, 2015!

Is it too late to still buy discount chocolate this year? Damn. My dad is on a health kick because of...cholesterol? anyway something where he won't eat anything fun, so I feel it has fallen to me to take up the mantle in this regard. Waiting three extra days to make sure the clearance goes really low is the most Dad thing to do, right?

Not chip clips; they break too easily. Those rubber-dipped metal spring clips that you can use to attach your tarp to your trailer--now those are really useful!

"GETTING YOUR KIDS OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR SEX" is probably the most unfortunately worded sentence I've read in a long, long time.

Security wallets! My dad has forced those "credit card protector" things upon me...
The last time my parents visited, my dad helped me work on my 1000-piece puzzle (he loves them) and spent the entire time taunting me for how slow I went.
OH MY GOSH the timing on this is amazing, one of my acquaintances tweeted this photo just as I was coming over to Dad Magazine (she's a private account, so hopefully the photo will link!)

ETA: I failed to consider that a photo without description is pretty useless for some people! I was so busy worrying that it might not show up at all. It's a book called "Twitter" with headlines like "the best twitter feeds!" and "keep up with all the latest gossip!" and it's almost a parody. but it's deadly serious.

This is my Dad's security wallet. At least he's secure in his heterosexuality.
I just had to say how much I love the picture for this month's Dad magazine. I love all the pictures but I think I love this one best.

I don't think my dad has ever used an emoji, but my mum recently discovered them. Here's a transcript of a recent text conversation.

MUM: Thanks for your support- cake nearly cooked
ME: No worries. I think that might be an angry emoji though...
MUM: Oh dear I thought it represented uncertainty bordering on terror
