I’m rewatching the first two seasons again and I’ve never been more jam-packed with feelings! 2002! Indie bands! Cardio bar! In n Out!

This is how I feel about having to work late tonight. Marissa Cooper really gets me.
Ryan’s necklace consisting of a single string that he probably picked up off the ground….introducing a whole new world of minimalist/slightly grubby accessories for that Underdog look.
Gosh I love the OC
Is there a single greater moment than Ryan rushing in slow-mo, confetti everywhere, to kiss Marissa at New Years Eve, pushing Oliver further to burn and fester in amazing rage?
I think we can also all agree that Jimmy Cooper wins Worst Best-Intentioned Father of Forever.
Nothing ..can.. compare.
Late 90s/early 2000s teen soaps had me convinced that teenage boys were constantly being seduced by older women.
A friend in high school made a website that was entirely dedicated Seth and Ryan slash as a “joke.” Like. There were photoshopped heads on sexy dude bodies in tropical locations, quotations of Oscar Wilde, entire back stories as to how they found their love. She did it as a “joke” because I loved the OC so much.
… I found out several years later that she was semi-Internet famous for writing fic and out of shame has never told me her handle, though apparently she was queen of the My Chem fic on LJ and AO3 back around 2007. Life is a many splendored thing.
Aw, I would feel bad for your friend except that her ship is incorrect. Luke/Ryan is the grandest ship that has ever sailed the seas and I will fight anybody on that!
I have probably read your friend’s fic.
The most unintentionally funny scene of the whole show.
I have often wondered if Marissa would have come off as less annoying if she’d been played by a better actress.
I had so much hatred for Mischa Barton when this show started because she starred as Vicky Austin in the made-for-TV movie of A Ring of Endless Light and she was so bad and the movie as a whole was an insult to Madeleine L’Engle but with the wisdom of age I have grown very fond of Marissa Cooper who is maybe the biggest idiot in the entire OC, but she feels SO HARD.
Ugh, that adaptation was THE WORST – they turned a beautifully-rendered story about loss and growing up into a goddam DOLPHIN HEIST or somesuch nonsense. (In fairness, that was probably not Ms. Barton’s idea.)
Also it had Dean from Gilmore Girls playing my #1 prepubescent literary crush Zachary. HOW DARE THEY???
Oh, no way. I was an Adam girl, all the way. You can keep your brooding Zachary-types. Still, there was SO MUCH wrong with that movie. And now I kind of want to reread the Austin books.
I get it, but she was so sweet and soulful and non-annoying in Lost and Delirious that it pretty much overrides Marissa in my mind. I can never truly hate her.
I apparently missed this…whole…Marissa…thing?
IMO the first OC Prime timeline ends Season 3 Ep 2 with the reprise of the theme song on the ferris wheel as Ryan is kicked out of Harbor. Everything after is alternate splinter timelines.
I feel that way about the entire show from the moment Oliver appears (with the exception of the episode where they all go to a Rooney concert, the greatest episode of the series).
I wonder if I can squeeze in the entirety of the series in a free 1-week trial with Hulu? I mean, I can always skip the non-essential episodes which would be most of season 3, right? Stupid Trey. Stupid Johnny.
It’s free (ad supported) on the CW Seed!
Which day belongs to Sandy Cohen?
And which day belongs to his eyebrows?
Every day belongs to Sandy Cohen’s eyebrows.
Ummm clearly it’s Sunday! He’s Sunday Cohen!
So The OC is one show I know I should watch yet still have not started. This might just add it to my watch list.
I’ve never seen the show, but I vividly remember it being cool to really hate Mischa Barton.
