I Have Arrived (On Late-Night Canadian College Radio)

Please do not look at me directly in the eyes; I am a late-night Canadian college radio star now. You may refill my cigarette holder; there’s a good darling. No, don’t touch it with your skin; it’s ruined now. Bring me a fresh one.

(Last night I had a very pleasant time speaking to Dorianne at CIUT’s Sex City Radio about Femslash Friday and this business we call show; you may listen to our chat here.)

Your Canadian celebrity card has just been punched! Now you get to hang out with Shania Twain and Alex Trebek!

I picture Nicole at the next Toast meet-up walking around telling people, “Do not look at Ms. Ortberg. Do not look her in the eye,” like Jack introducing Tracy to The Girly Show crew.

For a brief, shining moment, I thought you were talking about CJSR, my local Canadian college radio station). But alas, Toronto again. Bah humbug.

As a UofA alum, CJSR was the first station I thought of too. Apparently there are others. Bah humbug indeed.

This was so great, but the downside is that now I will never be satisfied until Mallory and Nicole start a weekly Toast podcast.

Up here in Canadaland, college and university are different things, in that universities are more academic and expensive and colleges are for more hands-on, practical learning, and are cheaper. So it is slightly more champagne-swilling and peel-me-a-grape to be on a university radio station than on a college one. I suggest you buy the high end corduroy for your elbow patches. (Thicker ridges, for everyone’s pleasure.)
