We do a lot of nice things for you guys, for free, and honestly I never complain about it, but if I find out that you did not read our guide on how to lift a man over your head I will actively and permanently lose it.
What else happened? Oh, our own Nicole Callahan just wrote a beautiful, honest, thoughtful piece about the pernicious myth that “love is enough” when it comes to transracial adoption, NO BIG DEAL, just part of the same EXCELLENCE we are committed to CHURNING OUT AT YOU ON A DAILY BASIS.
I don’t mean to be so aggressive. Sorry.
Milhouse Van Houten: the eternal chump who dwells within us all.
This was supposed to be so simple. Get in, develop complicated feelings for the girl, establish a relationship after a dizzying number of back-and-forths designed to produce the maximum amount of sexual and dynamic tension, then never get out. I was only supposed to fall in love. Wanting to protect her — that was never part of the deal.
I swear to actual God that some day we will run the piece about Many Waters that you have been waiting for; in the meanwhile please revisit this roundtable discussion of A Wrinkle in Time.
This isn’t our site, but I just learned about Equestrian Quarterly and I’m really enjoying it.
Steve always looks excited for 2 seconds, like “oh, a movie about wolves!” and then it’s “Christ, are you watching Breaking Dawn 2 again?”

Who do I make this check out to? Just The Toast or is it Women Overlords LLC or something?
I did read it! Honest! I won’t pretend I *understood* all the bits about technical lifting terminology, but I did read!
Likewise! Seriously, I might start thinking about lifting if I can have this as a goal. My bad knees wouldn’t be happy, though.
Can we just do a Many Waters day and just run the multiple different pitches I’m sure you’ve received?
So glad you relinked to Nikki’s piece on adoption, as I haven’t stopped thinking about it since it first went up. As a socially awkward dingus of the first order, adoption is a thing I have sometimes worried about responding to appropriately when it comes up in conversation. As with many topics that get a healthy airing here, I appreciate the generosity that went into writing it, and how many things I never would have thought of had they not been laid out and considered. Perspective: embiggened. Thank you!

…Other people remember Many Waters? It wasn’t just a fever dream full of tiny mammoths?
and sexy times with fallen angels, let’s not forget
dear The Toast,
You have asked me to read a piece about elevating at least one man over myself, literally.
I decline.
Love, Monday

Hey Toasties, I just found a super cool 19th century family letter – apparently from a woman who ended up captaining her husbands ship when a bunch of the crew (including an ancestor of mine, unclear if her husband also died or not) died of yellow fever. This has been a family story forever, but I had no idea we had actual documents kicking around! I’m RIDICULOUSLY excited about this.

Can anyone please remind me who we were meant to send emails to about the ‘read more’ links taking us to random articles? It’s started happening again for me, I’ve got a screenshot and have totally forgotten who I was meant to send it to…
you can send it to me, and I will not be able to do anything about it, but I can make sure it gets to the right people! nikki at the-toast dot net
Thanks!

Loved the lifting article. I got stared at for my entire gym session today and really wanted to march over, lift him up, so as to better throw him down after. On another note! -this Downton-esque satirical vid on phone etiquette at the table just made me hoot. Recommend if you like: Peter Serafinowicz, unexpected swearing, Edwardian costumes, and/or British humour in general: http://rare.us/story/stop-looking-at-your-phones-…
