I am hearing this as read by the school secretary from Ferris Bueller. Brava.
“But God proves his love for us, in that while we still were posers Christ died for us.”
This should pretty much be the motto of all youth groups.
A friend of mine volunteers with our church youth group sometimes, and apparently when somebody says something they agree with, they say “retweet.”
“Do not sweep me away with posers,
nor my life with the conformists,
those in whose hands are evil devices,
and whose right hands are full of bribes.”
Can’t help but read this in the voice of the tall goth kid on South Park.
“My child, if posers entice you, do not consent.”
As true today as when it was written.
Truer words have never been spoken. 😉
Once again, an Ortberg switch ends up resulting in some genuinely good advice.
(Also, the people of Sodom WERE totally posers, man, who thought they were too cool for widows and orphans.)
“My child, if posers entice you, do not consent.”
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
(I actually had no choice but to post that.)
I always thought it was “wannabes” – this is bringing back all of my bee pun feelings. wannabeeeeees.
Ah, One Corinthians….
That’s it, that’s the whole ballgame.
Every time I heard him say “Two Corinthians” it sounded more and more like the set up of a joke. “Two Corinthians walk into a bar. . .”
Mallory, how did you find out about my journal article?
